Well, I did it. I ran my 1st 5K race. My goal was to run the 3.1 miles in 35 minutes, as I was sort of comfortably running it in 40 minutes, when I was training with Asher leading up to the race.
I ran it in 34 minutes and Travis ran it in 41 minutes, his goal was to run it in under 45 minutes and not be last. We both reached our goals on Saturday. The hardest part, after the not being able to breathe part was not stopping to look at all the trees…huge redwood trees. I know for sure I said ‘Good God’, when I saw the first giant tree, during the race.
After our race, we hiked back to enjoy the trail, Cathedral Trees Trail. Then we drove over the river and through the woods to the beach and hiked a box canyon covered in ferns…I called it Fern Gully multiple. multiple. times. And then there was an Elk, a BIG Bull Elk, 14 points on the beach. We almost died walking to the beach, because we couldn’t see Mr. Elk but thankfully someone shouted to us that he was there, and we quickly backtracked. He was alone so it wasn’t like he was protecting his harem, although he was a bit on the aggressive side. We were quick to keep our distance, some folks weren’t that smart.
wow well done!!! Im not a runner although sometimes i wish i was…runners make it look so effortless! beautiful trees and surroundings!
It doesn’t feel easy to me, so I am sure I look awful while running and not graceful!
