It’s fall and that means there is a whole new color scheme to your life. We have moved on from the sorbet, and light and airy summer colors to deep earthy tones.
Apple Red. And in my effort to be BRAVE in the everyday and incorporate more of this color into my wardrobe and life, I bought red lipstick! *gasp* Really, Travis is NOT a fan, and I can see that if you’re not into the big bold lips that it can come off as trashy. But if I wear it with confidence and don’t smear it across my face…I feel rather sexy.
Mustard. Ever since I was little I have always loved yellow. Like on field day I was the kid praying to be on the Yellow Team because I loved to wear it. As fall gets rolling, my yellows get darker and more pleasant with my skin tone. I love the strong statement Mustard makes to an outfit. Even as an accessory.
Orchid. The 2014 color of the year, so as far as I am concerned it works all year-long. Pair that Orchid shirt with skinnies and closed toe flats, maybe a cardigan. I don’t have much of orchid in my closet, I am more of a plum purple in the fall and my closet can attest to that.
Gold. Ever since I can remember I have steered as far away from gold as I possibly can. In the past year, I have been reaching for gold in my jewelry box, my wardrobe and even in my technology. I totally have a Gold iPhone 6 with a dusty pink cover. Recently, I have been wearing Jamberry Gold Fishnet and I love the extra shine it brings to any outfit.
Emerald. Last year’s Pantone color of the year and the color of my Baylor Bears. I love fall for the cooler weather, dark tones, and Baylor Bear Football. Oh, and coffee. 🙂 Some people love this color, some don’t. I am not going to convince you to like it but try pairing it with pumpkin, for a less Christmas-y feel.
Pumpkin. With everything and it’s mother being labeled ‘pumpkin’ between September 1 and November 30, it’s hard not to love this or incorporate into your wardrobe. Not feeling bold enough to sport a pumpkin sweater, don’t worry me either…grab a skein of yarn and crochet a pumpkin cowl for the perfect accessory piece! (Found on Pinterest no website found)
Such cute outfits!
Thank you! I think so too! It’s amazing how even though I wasn’t a big dress up girl in high school or college since being married I have really started to dress myself up and stay up to date on the fun new fashion trends!
I love your lip color, but I know how men can be! LOL Also, love your outfit picks! And the plum purple button down with the leopard flats!
what a fun guide. Loving that last outfit.
I really love the color palettes! Especially that emerald dress. Guess I need to put my yoga pants away…
Don’t worry I am still in my sweats and tee from this morning…no judgements here! 🙂
I love the last outfit. So cute!
I know it’s simple and elegant!
I think the red lipstick is really cute on you! And I’m a big fan of earth tones all year long 🙂
Thanks Ashley, I love earth tones year round too, but I love the darker stuff this time of the year!
What a fun post! I love your color pallet image and I agree with the above, the red is a really good color for you, nice choice of hue!!!
The pallet came from Angie Sandy a designer in Colorado, I think I linked the image back to her page. You should check her out, I love her work. Thanks for the encouragement on the red lipstick! I wore it to church on Sunday! My husband asked who I was getting dressed up for!
Haha! Did you tell him “for Jesus”? 🙂 I will for sure check her out!!! 🙂
Earth tones are my jam. They just mesh well with me. Love this post!
I know, I feel more connected to the change in season when I’m sporting mustard and pumpkin! Thanks for stopping by!

Orchid is such a gorgeous color, I need it in clothing!
I need more of it in my wardrobe too! But it’s a scary color for me to buy.
