OK, so I mostly ran a 10K, which in case you don’t know is 6.2 miles. Last year I ran my 1st 5K, at the Run in the Redwoods at Prairie Creek Redwood Park north of Orick, CA. At the beginning of this year, I made a resolution to run a half marathon, so I made a plan for this fall running season, I started with the 5K again at Redwoods this year, and the 10K at the Modesto Run & Ride this past weekend. I didn’t set any records or anything like that but I did finish within the time I had set as a goal: 1 hour and 20 minutes. In case you’re curious my average pace was 12 minutes and 49 seconds.
Sprinting towards the finish line was the best feeling in the world. I didn’t set out to ‘cream’ my husband I set out to do this while taking care of my body and pushing myself at the same time.
I admit I am sore, but this gives me so much hope for the half marathon. I never thought my body could run a 10K now to go twice that in 3 weeks! This is by far the hardest thing I have ever done with my body and I was a competitive cheerleader in high school. Coach Matt, did you ever think I would do this?
