Hometown Series: Colorado Springs, Colorado

For 1 year and 3 months, we called this little piece of earth; home. And although it was crazy, I have to say it was jaw dropping beautiful the whole time. I love everything about the Colorado Springs, you get the small town feel and the ability to get out of town very quickly.

Hometown Series | Colorado Springs

Old Colorado City– has the small town shopping and boutiques perfect for shopping for souvenirs or picking up artisan candies. Asher and I used to frequent Republic of Paws shop there, be sure to stop in and say hi!

Food Tour– When we moved to CS, we brought a friend to help us unload. He picked out a few things to do as he was spending his vacation doing this, as a foodie he chose to do a food tour through Manitou Springs and it was not disappointing. In the end we ate at 4 or 5 restaurants and Travis and I ate at many of them again and again over the year and a half we lived there.

Sky Socks Minor League team– Travis and I love baseball, college, minor league and major. When visiting the Springs in June 2012 before we moved we attended a game at Sky Socks Stadium on our 5th anniversary. They always put on a great show and Star Wars night was a big hit for us. We went every summer, which was only twice by the way.

Olympic Training Center-This was fun and free to visit, you can see where the athletes train and maybe even see a few! Since we visited during the 2012 olympics the torch at the top of the center was lit.

Pikes Peak- don’t put it off, yes it will be crowded but do it be a tourist and drive to the top, unless you’re really ambitious and plan to bike, or hike it!

Garden of the Gods– if you plan to drive to the top of Pike’s be sure to walk Garden of the Gods. The walking paths are paved and dogs are allowed, again it is usually crowded especially on the weekends and in the summer but the views are amazing. Pikes Peak is being snowed on in the image below taken from the Garden of the Gods visitor center.
