Wear it Wednesday | Dressember 2018 Wrap Up

Earlier this month, I mentioned what I would do if I reached my goal. It doesn’t sound like a huge deal but it is for me. So, in case you missed it if I reached my Dressember campaign goal, I would wear my wedding dress to the top of Pikes Peak, and of course, there will photographic proof to share with all the interwebs. I’m making no guarantee when in 2019 this would happen but that it WOULD happen. Even though I’m done wearing dresses, I’m so excited to wear jeans and all my cute tops again. But, YOU can still give to my Dressember campaign through the month of January! And I could still end up at the top of Pikes Peak in my wedding dress!

Looks from all 31 days of Dressember, I found my groove by day 20 and a new favorite piece that Lorca cardigan from wearwell, swoon! In total, I wore 7 different dresses and lots of layers with 2 pairs of leggings, 2 pairs of tights and one pair of skinny jeans.

To encourage donations this year I gave away fair trade, ethically made, and conscience made items from brands I love. Brands generously donated to my campaign through these items and I am so thankful! I hope this Dressember has been educational for you, it has been for me.

I hope you enjoyed seeing me wear a dress EVERYDAY for the entire month! I think this is the first time I’ve actually worn a dress every day of the challenge, in the past I frequently took at least one day off a week to wear sweats all day or wear jeans to my job. Not this year, and I had so much fun! The hardest part was getting a photo every day!

So if you are curious about ways to help prevent and support those who have been trafficked I recommend starting with HOW and WHERE you spend your money. Support and buy from brands and companies that provide for their employees, including a living wage, not the bare minimum. Brands that give back by encouraging education and time with family. Brands that employ women so they can be independent and support themselves in dignified ways. Give to organizations like IJM, A21, Love146, Cast, Restore, and Thorn. Which all work locally and globally to prevent, rescue, and restore people from human trafficking. This is not a somewhere else issue, it’s happening ALL OVER THE WORLD and in your own city.

Thank you for all your encouragement, donations, kind words, and support as a few friends wore dresses on specific days just for me! THANK YOU!

(January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month so the posts aren’t over! Join me in wearing blue on January 11th for Human Trafficking Awareness Day)
