Sustainability | Stasher Bags

In an effort to be more sustainably minded, I realized this year the ONLY reason I used plastic bags was for our raw meats. I could put literally anything else in a jar or glass pyrex dish. So I started doing some research when I discovered Stasher bags. Heads up this is not sponsored in any way, I bought these products on my own and am sharing them with you because they made a difference in my life for the better.

I get it plastic bags are cheap and honestly, they tend to leak and food doesn’t actually stay good in them very long, although if you ruin one and it’s no big deal grab another. Personally, I didn’t like throwing away plastic bags after one use. In case you don’t know, I carry my shopping bags with me whenever I shop at Target or other places cause I have no desire for additional plastic bags. You could say California warped my mind but really it’s so much more practical and really I’ve always been a tree hugger.

Personally, I love our Stasher bags. We have a few different colors mostly in the Sandwich bag and Snack sizes.  Perfect for storing raw meats, blocks of cheese, or chopped veggies. After they’ve been used I can put them in the dishwasher or wash them by hand but if we’re being honest I put them in the dishwasher.

Stasher bags are food grade silicone, dishwasher safe, oven safe, fridge & freezer safe, microwave safe, and can be used on the stove for sous vide. These are good for travel perfect for travel sized bath liquids. You can write on them too!

Yes, these bags are a bit of an investment. I didn’t buy ours all in one sitting, I bought them over time as necessary so we could best determine how many we actually needed.

These have helped reduce how much plastic we throw away, by nearly eliminating the need for plastic zip top bags. And although you can do A LOT with these little bags, we tend to mostly use them for our raw meats, chopped veggies, and blocks of cheese. I’m sure we’ll get more use out of them on our next road trip!

You can buy Stasher bags online, at Amazon and at Target!
