Yesterday was Ash Wednesday, which means lent season is here. For those of you unfamiliar with lent it is the 40 days (minus Sundays) leading to Easter Sunday. It’s common practice to ‘give up’ something for lent, for the last several years I’ve made it a practice to do more during lent. Give to those experiencing homelessness, offer a kind word to myself when I’m feeling down, or volunteer during those 40 days.
This year I’m going to be doing a devotional, a more inward way to experience Lent for sure but one I need to do for myself and to care for myself. Although, I’m not making an express decision to do something similar listed above doesn’t mean those won’t happen during the next 40 days.
So if you’re looking for a new way to experience the Lent season, I invite you to start a bible study, try meditation, create time for yourself to be renewed. Hunker down into your quiet time and enjoy some peace, quiet and time spent with the Savior.
Are you giving anything up for lent?
