For Lent this year, I’ve been working through Jennie Allen’s Made for This 40 day devotional. Now, while this review is coming out before the end of Lent so hopefully you know that I haven’t finished this devotional yet, but it’s SO good I couldn’t wait any longer to tell you about it!
I really love the length of each reading each day, it’s not so long that you have to carve time out of your schedule to read and reflect. I’m able to do the reading and reflection in about 15 minutes which if I’m running on time I can do during the morning before getting ready and going to work. While I love devotionals with questions, I don’t like to write in them so there is room to write in this book but I prefer to keep a journal.
I’ve been working on caring for myself in 2019 and Made for This has been a great companion to revealing where my passions and talents are giving glory to God and where I need to step back. To let Him shine outside what I can ever accomplish on my own. I’ve been learning that He needs room to shine in my life and I need to step back to give Him room to show me His power and His plan for my life.
This book has been a huge encouragement that I am on the right path, the last year has been trying to say the least and hearing from God through scripture and others that I am fulfilling my purpose is the most amazing feeling. I’m so grateful to Jennie Allen for her work on this devotional, and I can’t wait to see how it ends.
