Warm weather is finally here to stay in Colorado, so I’m spending as much time outside in the sun as humanly possible. One of our favorite ways to be outside is having a picnic, either just us or with friends. I’ve put together 3 fun picnic inspired looks that are easy and comfortable to wear!

First, a picnic date is the perfect way to spend time together with my hubby. We pack up our yummy treats and head to the park or even just down to the pool to get out of the house and enjoy some time together. For a day time date picnic, I love a good sundress. My 2017 Dressember Dress is the perfect thing, personally the muted tones of this dress are my favorite and makes it easy to wear all year long. I added my black Sseko Designs crossover sandals, and instead of a necklace the black floral skinny scarf tied around my neck.

When headed to a picnic with friends, especially friends with kids, I always chose sneakers and jeans. Boyfriend jeans are my favorite for warm days, the loose fitting leg is more versatile and less sticky than a skinny cut and it’s casual. (a great alternative to boyfriend jeans would be linen pants, but I’d say swap your sneakers for sandals if you decide to do that.) My boyfriend jeans are distressed and allow for extra ventilation so to speak. Paired my my low top navy converse and a button down top. I’m ready to take charge of the grill, toss a frisbee, or chase little ones down after we’ve all consumed too much ice cream.

The last outfit is perfect for on the go, perhaps a spontaneous picnic after work. It’s a nicer look but still casual. Because of the warmer weather, I prefer to wear cropped denim like all the time if I’m not wearing a dress. Shorts are also an option but I get cold so easily that I reach for jeans and pants more often than not. So I started this look with my olive cropped length zipper detailed jeans. The key for me when choosing skinny jeans is balancing the fitted portion with something more relaxed, like a straight fitting chambray button down over a tank top in case I do actually get hot. The chambray layer helps to keep me comfy if I’m cool and it keeps the sun off my arms. You see I have very porcelain skin, clearly my northern european descent is showing. And aside from sunscreen, a lightweight layer is always welcome to keep the sun from burning me to a crisp. You can finish this look a variety of ways; clogs, sandals, sneakers, ankle booties even! But I prefer a polished pair of flats, my mustard The Root Collective flats add a pop of color and seamlessly finish my look with the need of many accessories.
