Recently when my parents drove up from Texas, my mom brought me my sewing machine. I asked for it the first Christmas I was married and then immediatly got frustrated with it. I sewed a few projects but not many. Over the last few years, I’ve become more and more interested in sewing and been longing for my machine I left in Texas almost 8 years ago. When my mom came up she gave me a very quick sewing lesson while we did a project I’ve been thinking of for a while.
Day 4 Day 10 Day 18
That sewing project? Was to convert my 2015 Dressember dress into a top. I love this piece but it hasn’t really worked for me as a dress. So we pinned, cut, and sewed it into a top that I guarantee you will see more of this summer! I was sad to loose the pockets but they made the perfect notches in the side seams.

With Cropped Skinny Jeans
With a looser fit, a boxy top is a great piece to balance skinny jeans. For the warmer summer months, I’m styling with cropped skinny jeans and my clogs which are close in color to my top creating a finished look.

Bottoms: Mavi Petite Length Crop Jeans from Stitch Fix
Shoes: Lotta from Stockholm
Jewelry: Necklace from 31 Bits

With Wide Leg Pants
You really cannot go wrong with a breathable and flowy top & breathable and flowy bottom. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect pair of wide-leg crop pants in white or offwhite since last summer, and this pair from Target hit the nail on the head. I’ve worn them once every week since adding them to my closet. I love the overall flow of this outfit and it has a very retro vibe.

With Black Denim
I’m lucky because the wine tone of this top looks great with every neutral bottom, I own. Styling it with sleek black denim and sandals is perfect when I need to look more polished but still feel comfy and chic. Polished is not how I’d usually describe or style myself.

With Distressed Denim
The ultimate casual look for when I don’t want to wear shorts, my boyfriend holey jeans and sneakers are perfect for picnics at the park or just walking the dog. I love the versatility of this top and its ability to mix & match with so much more now that it isn’t a dress!
