Wear it Wednesday | Dressing up Shorts

I feel like I’m slacking in the summer months style wise, it’s hard to look chic while staying comfortable in the heat, which is why my go-to summer piece isn’t shorts but a dress. And since our Instagram Style group is slowing down for the summer, because half of us are traveling or visiting family. I’m not one of those people, instead we are staying home and living out our best lives from home. This style challenge was to dress up shorts for the hot summer months, I’ve included 3 looks to inspire you!

Top: NOLITA from the Way Maker Collection by Elegantees, Shorts: OLD from Target, Sandals: from Sseko Designs, Earrings: Daisy in Ivory from Sela Designs

Look 1
Denim Shorts + Nolita Puff Sleeve Elegantees Top
The trick to elevating your shorts is not just in the top you choose but the accessories. What elevates this classic pair of denim shorts is the fit and details of this top. Those puff sleeves take this classic fitted top to a new polished level. Paired with T-strap sandals and statement making Daisy earrings take this outfit from a look that can make you feel blah to feeling glamorous.

Top: OLD from Target, Shorts: OLD from Old Navy, Sandals: Ribbon Sandals from Sseko Designs, Earrings: Rory in Cork Waves from Sela Designs

Look 2
Blue Old Navy Shorts + Button down Chambray Top
The easiest way to dress up your shorts? Add a button down top. Seriously, I’ve been accused these shorts are too short. They are shorter than other pairs but I don’t think over people get to have a say in what I wear. So I keep wearing these, and the polished and timeless button down top is the perfect piece to finish this pair of cuffed cobalt shorts. The addition of ribbon sandals adds something refreshing and casual to such a buttoned up look.

Top: Bodysuit in White from Pact Apparel, Shorts: Woven shorts in Fern Green from Pact Apparel, Necklace: 31 Bits, Sandals: Custom Slide on Sandals from Sseko Designs

While shorts may not be my first choice for staying cool this summer, I love these dressier looks for hot summer days. Which is your favorite? How will you try dressing up shorts this summer? Perhaps with a delicately detailed top or a timeless button down top? Let me know how you’ll stay cool and stylish this summer!
