Wear it Wednesday | How to pack a Capsule Wardrobe for a Trip

Traveling in 2020 feels like the most unnatural thing, but to make it less stressful and easier I am creating a versatile capsule wardrobe perfect for hanging out with family or taking holiday photos! So, here are my tips for packing a capsule wardrobe for a one week trip!

I found this one on Pinterest

Color Palette

Since we knew family photos would be a must while on this trip, I picked out a color palette that would work well for the seasonal pictures as well as the rest of the trip. Thankfully, the deep earthy tones we picked worked well for everyone and easily carried over into the outfits I plan to wear for the rest of the trip.

How much?

The goal of a capsule is to pack less and only what you need. So I decided for 7 days, I would need no more than 3 tops, 2 bottoms, 1 dress, 1 layer, and 2 pairs of shoes (plus pj’s, socks, and undergarments). That is it. And everything coordinates! I do plan to take a casual layer, aka a sweatshirt and house shoes since we will be at my parents house and I don’t want to walk around in socks the whole time. I am considering one more top a simple long sleeve to wear under my sweater and that would also go with my skirt.

Tops

Navy & White Striped Short Sleeve Tee
Burgundy Boxy Short Sleeve Top
Green Long Sleeve Sweater
(possibly a long sleeve back top & sweatshirt)

Bottoms

Dark Wash Skinny Jeans
Plaid Wool Midi Skirt

Shoes

Lace Up Keen Boots
Mustard The Root Collective Flats
(house shoes)

Layer

Denim Jacket (mild climate)

Dress

Dark Wash Denim Jumper Dress
