The weather in Colorado this time of year varies from inches of snow to dry warm days, honestly we never know what we are going to get! Which is why it can be hard to choose good stylish shoes to wear. You want something comfortable and something that can handle the potential unexpected weather! While I tend to wear boots for half the year and sandals for the other half of the year, with flats dispersed in there on occasion.

I recently received 2 pairs from Vivaia, a luxury shoe company with a mission to create stylish and sustainable footwear and apparel that are eco-friendly and sustainable. First are the Riley Boots, they have a Chelsea style look and fit. And the Aria Point Toe Flats, a timeless flat that is perfect for literally everything. Peek me wearing these through all the airports in 2023!

My new Riley Boots from Vivaia are the perfect spring boots for Colorado. Come snow or snow puddles, the Riley boots will keep me dry and comfy the whole day. Made from recycled plastic bottles they are made with people and the planet in mind. I love the ankle high shaft for keeping me warm and is perfect to wear with everything from dresses to jeans. I have worn them with tights, dress socks, and even barefoot just to get a true assessment of their fit and comfort.

While I am a true size 6, they do feel tight with socks. I would not wear my thick wool socks with these. I did wear these on NYE this year and they were perfect for celebrating, it was a cold night and they were comfortable outside as well as inside. Plus for dancing and moving around!

While my new Aria 5 Point Toe Flats are made with hemp fabric which is naturally antimicrobial! The pattern I received is Sand Stripe which is a beautiful neutral perfect for dressing up or down. A color and style that was clearly lacking from my current wardrobe. The insoles of these flats are incredibly comfortable, maybe it’s just been such a long time since I’ve gotten new shoes or it is the PU foam which was perfect for a busy morning of walking around at work last week. Every detail about the design of these flats contributes to their comfort & timeless style from the added heel patch to the perfect width of the toe box!

Vivaia’s commitment to Sustainability:

Of the 40 million tons of plastic waste generated in the U.S. in 2021, only 5% to 6% — or about two million tons — was recycled. from World Economic Forum

With headquarters located in the US, Vivaia choose to produce these amazing shoes in a different country for several reasons. After a couple of on-site visits to the factory and standard assessment, they chose their factory in Dongguan, China, based on their quality, price, efficiency, environmental impact, working condition, and employee treatment.

Vivaia has a supply chain that recycles discarded PET bottles from the ocean. Then, the factory cleans up the bottles to make sure there is no filth and dirt in them. The cutting machine then chips the plastic into flakes which are extruded later into threads. Lastly, the factory loads the fabric into their high-tech 3D knitting machine.

While folks have questioned why they picked their factory in China, VIVAlA is happy to share more details on their factory and welcome more questions regarding the factory. Read more about Vivaia Sustainability, HERE
