Home Renovations Part 4
What started as a little kitchen project has turned into something way bigger. Our house, being over 100 years old, has thrown some unique challenges our way. But things are moving along, and we're officially moving in on Saturday—ready or not!
In the last two weeks alone, we’ve installed kitchen cabinets, countertops, and backsplash, painted the kitchen, and got the stove, dishwasher, and fridge up and running. We've also painted trim and added a new fan in the bedroom. Still on the to-do list: building a pantry and putting it in the wall, putting up a half-wall in the living room, and waiting for the new bedroom windows to arrive and be installed.
Everyone keeps asking how it's going, and I tell them it’s going to be great. But when they see the current state of the project, they always look pretty worried. Honestly, I’m less concerned about the house being ready and more about the actual process of moving all our stuff over there!
When we moved from our apartment to the house back in 2022, I did a major declutter. Now that we're moving back, I only had to grab a few things from our storage unit. I'm hopeful I didn’t accumulate too much more while living in our basement apartment these last 2 years, but I can’t say the same for my husband.
This week, when we haven’t been working or sleeping, we've been at the house helping out. The days have been long, but we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. We're all looking forward to resting and celebrating once we’re moved in. Throughout this renovation project, I’ve tried my hand at so many new things.
Today, some friends from church are coming over in the afternoon to help pack and clean the old place. This morning, we’re planning to take a load of stuff to the new house and tackle any last-minute projects to get the kitchen usable by tomorrow afternoon.
Tomorrow is move-in day! Stay tuned for a final update and photos of what will hopefully be a finished project!
